True Bugs are insects belonging to the order Hemiptera. They have piercing-sucking mouthparts. Many feed on plants, but some are carnivorous. Aphids are probably the most familiar true bugs in the Redmire area. They have an incomplete metamorphosis, the young, called nymphs, resemble the adults in many respects. It is important to distinguish the use of the common name 'True Bugs' from the wider use of the term 'bug' for any invertebrate animal, bacterium or virus.
