Apple Ermine Moth

Yponomeuta malinellus, Apple Ermine Moth. A small night flying moth similar to the Bird-cherry Ermine Moth. Caterpillars develop communially in webs on apple tree leaves, causing some defoliation but not permanent damage. Some loss of fruit may occur. Young caterpillars are yellow with black heads, turning to a dark blue-black later.
