Trametes versicolor

Turkeytail

Trametes versicolor, Turkeytail, is a bracket fungus living saprophytically on dead trees. Lignin, a component of wood, is exceptionally difficult to digest, so these fungi play a vital role in wood decomposition and recycling of nutrients.
