Prunus padus, Bird Cherry. A medium sized deciduous tree. Hanging clusters of white flowers in May. Susceptible to defoliation by Bird-cherry Ermine Moth caterpillars, Yponomeuta evonymella in May. Small, bitter fruits in July. Often seen in hedgerows and woodland edges.
