Primula vulgaris

Primrose

Primula vulgaris, Primrose, is one of the earlier spring flowering plants found in shady places such as woodland and bankings. It is perennial and belongs to the family Primulaceae. Many garden varieties and hybrids are commonly available. The Primrose is closely related tp the Cowslip, Primula veris, and natural crosses produce a hybrid called the False Oxlip. Primroses, Cowslips and the hybrid are all present in the Redmire area, flowering together in April.
