Ononis repens

Common Restharrow

Ononis repens, Common Restharrow. Rather shrubby and prostrate in habit and often associated with coastal areas, but will grow in inland places, prefering calcareous soils. The name 'Restharrow' comes from its abilty to stop a horse drawn harrow due to its dense roots. Typical legume type flowers.
