Marchantia polymorpha ruderalis

Common Liverwort

Marchantia polymorpha ruderalis, Common Liverwort, is usually found growing on man made substrates such as block paving and in greenhouses. It cosists mainly of a spreading thallus with no leaves. Gemmae are essentially new plants that develop in cups on the thallus and can be dislodged by rainfall.
