Capillary thread moss
Bryum capillare , Capillary Thread Moss, grows widely in the Redmire area, usually on wall tops at lower levels and as a ground moss on Cobscar Rake, in effect a facultative metallophyte. Its leaves spiral to a corkscrew formation when dry. Numerous capsules hang down during February.
