Bombycilla garrulus

Waxwing

Bombycilla garrulus, Waxwing. A colourful migratory bird, visiting England in winter from Northern Europe. Does not breed here. Feeds on berries, particularly varieties of Rowan, Sorbus spp. and Hawthorn, Crataegus monogyna. Will frequent gardens. Usually found in flocks.
