Slow Worm

Anguis fragilis, Slow Worm. The Slow Worm is a legless lizard and probably more tolerant of northern conditions than most other reptiles. It hibernates from October to March. Otherwise it can be seen in sunny, grassy places such as woodland edge and sometimes gardens if they are cat free. They are very well camouflaged. Slow Worms feed on invertebrates.
